My Habitat Home: Kelli’s Story

At Habitat for Humanity we’re all about restoring lives, restoring hope, and restoring people’s confidence in their own home, which is why when we heard Kelli Battaglia’s story, we just had to pay her a visit. As one of the ReStore’s most dedicated customers and long-term friends, Kelli is constantly browsing the aisles to see what affordable goods she can find. As a matter of fact, most of what Kelli owns was purchased right here at the Marysville ReStore! From the picture frames that outline her family portraits to the twinkling lights that gave her space a little sparkle of charm, there’s no doubt that Kelli has transformed her apartment complex into a cozy space she can proudly call home.

After giving us a walkthrough of her home, Kelli sat down to chat with us about her experience at the ReStore. “I keep telling people ‘You have to go there!’ It’s fantastic, it really is” she said. However, the ReStore is so much more than a bargain shopping experience for Kelli. She mentioned how the other day, on the date of her late daughter’s birthday, she left the ReStore in tears, overwhelmed by the compassion and support she received from the staff. To Kelli, shopping at the ReStore feels like receiving a warm hug from a family member and helps fill a void in her life that she can’t quite put into words. People like Kelli are the reason we take pride in our work and continue to do what we do.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about building homes, it’s about restoring community, and we strive to do that one home, one person, and one heart at a time.
