Homes for the Holidays

Our Supportive Outreach Services team and Sutter County Health and Human Services have been hard at work getting some of our local families a home for the holidays ❤ This past month, we’ve successfully moved 4 families into our Oak Haven development in Live Oak and are working towards filling the other units on the property. This complex offers 4 newly built duplexes intended to provide permanent housing for 16 low-income families whose households contain individuals with mild to moderate mental disabilities.

One of the single mothers moving in claimed she had tears of joy running down her face the entire car ride there because this will be the first time in 40 years she has a home to call her own. She also shared that her daughter has been diagnosed with Down syndrome and that she is so grateful to finally have a safe place for her to grow up.

Another couple moving in have previously been living as tenants at our Harmony Village apartment complex in Yuba City. While they are a little sad to be leaving the Harmony Village community, they are very excited for this next chapter in their life and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Sometimes it takes a village to build a village and we couldn’t have done this without the support from our amazing partners, donors, staff, and our incredible community. Thank you to everyone involved in this project and to all of our residents at Oak Haven – we wish you a warm welcome home!
